Seriously, if you’re not yet a fan of Trader Joe’s, you need to be. Even if you don’t want to buy anything, just go for the pure fact that the experience will bring a smile to your face.
I have yet to go there without at least one worker genuinely asking me about my day, wondering what kind of party I must be hosting with all of the wine I’m buying (😬) and pumping my kids up by offering them lollipops and stickers. And if this isn’t enough, the other fellow shoppers are just as awesome. I’ve had the joy of meeting these two lovely individuals during my last two visits:
Yesterday I met The Doting Husband. Let’s call him Fred.
Fred was shopping in the flower section and looked concerned. He looked at me, hesitated and then said, “Excuse me, would you mind helping me pick out flowers for my wife? Sometimes I just like to surprise her. I’m not in the doghouse or anything. It’s actually our 42nd wedding anniversary, and while I’m getting the hang of it, I don’t fully have an eye for this stuff, so I’d love your help.” So we stood there and put together the perfect bouquet for him to surprise his wife. He was so thankful I helped and I was so thankful he asked.
And then a few weeks ago, I met Mr. Smile Card. Let’s call him Sam. (This story may be a repeat for some but it’s too good not to share again!)
While shopping, my daughter Jade was pushing her mini cart behind my big cart. I stopped to make sure she was still behind me, only to see Sam handing her something. He smiled at me and said, “Don’t worry, it’s just a Smile Card, it’s nothing bad.” He then saw my son Griff and told him he could have one too. And before Sam walked away, he looked at me and said, “I really wish you a wonderful life.” Along came his darling wife, and together they continued on shopping. I looked at the card, and…melt my ❤️:
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SMILE, YOU HELPED BRIGHTEN MY DAY, MAY GOD’S BLESSINGS BE WITH YOU ALL YOUR DAYS. And on the back, it read: GIVEN WITH GOOD WILL FROM ME.
So trust me when I say, “Just go to Trader Joe’s”, you’ll be happy you did!
